Describing the work on view, McGuire explains:

I travel primarily by foot, walking to and from work and my studio almost daily. Walking allows me to develop ideas and discover things I wouldn’t notice if I wasn’t walking, like street signs and other elements of visual communication. Through this body of work I am trying to document and accurately portray the messages I encounter, but after being processed by my mind’s filter, what the viewer is experiencing is actually these messages through my perspective.

Caitlin McGuire is a visual artist in Halifax, NS. She completed her BFA at NSCAD University in 2015 and holds a BSc from St. FX University. She is currently an Artist in Residence at the MacPhee Centre for Creative Learning in Dartmouth, NS. She is a gallery assistant and represented by Argyle Fine Art in Halifax.
