VANS Offers Subsidized Studio Space

Visual Arts Nova Scotia is pleased to announce the extension of our Subsidized Studio program offering our members studio space in North End Halifax. Artists can apply to rent space for 2 – 3 months from September 1, 2017 – March 31, 2018.

There is no expectation of work to be completed during the studio rental. It is an opportunity for an artist who may be new to working in an independent studio or an artist who has a specific project to work on and could use support to fund a short-term studio space.

Located in the Manual Training Collective, 5557 Cunard Street, Halifax, NS, the studio is 12’9” x 8’5”, corner with tall windows that open. A work table and wall space can be used. All studio spaces in the Collective are considered clean spaces and the use of any material that is toxic or deemed unsafe is not allowed, including sprays and airborne particles. The common area is accessible to all members as a lounge and meeting area as well as for documentation purposes.

Eligibility: VANS member. Over 19 years of age.

Cost to you: $50/month + key deposit (deposit will be returned at the end of the rental).

Deadline for applications: Friday, June 16, 2017 at 5pm.

All applications will be reviewed by the VANS Programming Committee. Once the application has been approved, you will be asked to sign a contract outlining the policies and procedures of the collective and pay a deposit to ensure safe key return. If there are vacancies in the calendar year, we will continue to accept applications on an ongoing basis and review as needed.
