VANS in Residence in Kings County

NEW DEADLINE! Visual Arts Nova Scotia and Uncommon Common Art (UCA) are thrilled to be facilitating an artist residency in Kings County, Nova Scotia. This partnership is a terrific opportunity for NS artists and the host community. This month-long residency, with an additional week for planning, will involve the artists in both their own work, in community with workshops, talks, open studios, and participation in the annual UCA environmental art exhibit. The residency will provide a chance for the artist to have a period of work with a focus on their own practice and engagement with the community.

The artist will dedicate 40 hours per week to the residency. 30% – 40% of the time will be dedicated to community-based work, including hands-on workshops, studio visits, talks and presentations. 60% -70% (24 hours) of the time towards the artist’s own work, be that creation, research or both. A stipend of $2500 will be paid to the artist; living and work accommodations on location in Kings County, NS will be provided. Deadline for applications has been extended to January 19.
