VANS in Residence at the Woodlawn Library

Visual Arts Nova Scotia is pleased to announce a new VANS in Residence project.  In partnership with The Woodlawn Public Library and with the support of the 2013 HRM Artist in Residence Initiative, this residency of a PAINTS artist will take place in March 2014.

The call for artists is now open!  Eligibility details and how to apply can be found here. The selected artist will enter into collaboration with the community, focussing on youth.  This month-long residency will provide a chance for the artists to have a period of work with a focus divided between their own practice and engagement with youth and others in Woodlawn.  We’re excited to support an artist in connecting with this library community!

The program provides for the artist to spend 40 hours per week on the residency.  For full program information, please go to www.paintsns.ca and follow the links.

Applications must be received via email at paints@paintsns.ca on or before December 31, 2013.

Applicants must be professional visual artists who are members in good standing of VANS and of the PAINTS program. The artists must have completed a minimum of 2 workshops in the PAINTS program. All media will be considered.  Artists must be a resident of The Halifax Regional Municipality and must be willing and able to dedicate 40 hours per week to the 4 weeks of the residency, and be available for planning prior to the beginning of the residency in collaboration with the host organization.

Please contact PAINTS Coordinator Andrea Ritchie for more information.
