This is Me, VANS Regional Exhibition

April 26, 2011 -For the first time since 2004, Visual Arts Nova Scotia (VANS) members living in the Cumberland, Colchester and East Hants County (Region 6) will be exhibiting their work together at the McCarthy Hall Gallery, Nova Scotia Community College, 36 Arthur St., Truro, NS from May 6 – May 31, 2011.

This is me is an exhibition featuring the diversity and identity of VANS’ membership in VANS Region 6. Artists participating in this exhibition include, Wendy Irvine, Ann Read, Taylor Redmond, Cristina Sidhu, Norene Smiley, Krista Wells, Kerry Geddes, Jenny Gilmore, Janice Guinan, Laurie Gunn, Myrna Hambleton, Niki Hoyle, Joy Laking, Heather Lawson, Betty Rector, Diane Redden, Janice Stewart , Darlene Watters, Marilyn Whalen, Judy Arsenault, Kathryn Belzer, Jennifer Marlow,  Kelly Morehouse, Marie Murakami, Barbara Page, and Susan Sweet. Participating artists exhibit a range of work in painting, sculpture, textiles and photography and are further diversified by different styles and theoretical backings. This is me is thus an exhibition featuring the diversity of VANS’ membership.

The opening reception for the regional exhibition, This is Me takes place Friday, May 6, 2011 from 6:30pm – 9:30pm, in which exhibiting artists will be in attendance. The reception will also include live musical performance by singer Melanie Grant & Friends with the foyer leading up to the gallery exhibition featuring one-of-a-kind paper dolls made by the children of Cumberland, Colchester, East Hants County.


McCarthy Hall Gallery is open Monday to Friday 8am-4:30pm and Saturday 1pm-5pm.
