En Route Artist Talk Series: Ehryn Torrell in Antigonish

Ehryn Torrell is a London-based Canadian painter visiting the province to present her solo exhibition Self Similar at the Cape Breton University Art Gallery this fall. Torrell’s large scale paintings and drawings incorporate visual elements of collapsed and derelict structures, and of remembered cityscapes. Using the lens of the built environment to explore personal and universal conditions of human experience, Ehryn Torrell’s work in painting examines empathy, contingency, loss and vulnerability.

Ed Huner – August 2013 Artist Profile

Born in the Netherlands and raised in southern Ontario, Edward Huner holds a BFA(’76) degree from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. Ed is an elected member of the Society of Canadian Artists and is a founding member of the Professional Living Artists of Nova Scotia. He regards his work as figurative and representational and enjoys the disparate placements of objects and environments.

2012-13 Mentorship Program Exhibition

Apprentices this year have created works investigating dominant forms of knowledge, the transference of power, and wilderness as refuge.
