Alexandra McCurdy – October Featured Artist

Alexandra McCurdy is a graduate of NSCAD university (BFA) and the Cardiff Institute of Higher Learning in Wales. A ceramist/printmaker/independent curator, Alexandra works in porcelain making highly decorative, one-of-a-kind, colourful pieces, informed by her longstanding interest in textiles. Alexandra was recently inducted to the Royal Canadian Academy of the Arts and has a celebratory show at the David Kaye Gallery in Toronto Ontario from October 01 through 25.

Nadine Belliveau

Nadine Belliveau is a visual artist from the Baie Sainte-Marie, Digby County, Nova Scotia where she has been creating professionally since 1971. A graduate of NSCAD, Université de Moncton & Université Sainte-Anne, her contribution to the arts has been as an artist, educator and organizer. Her paintings explore the essence of nature by means of abstraction and decorative expression and unveil the mysterious, immersive qualities of nature presenting their inviting and warm environments through textural, layered and large-format acrylic on canvas.

Geoff Butler is an artist and writer in Granville Ferry, NS. His work is a mixture of realism and fantasy commenting on the human condition. Recently he has been an artist-in-residence with Fogo Island Arts in Newfoundland, and with the Labrador Institute & Grenfell Campus Art Gallery in North West River, Labrador. His recent work will be exhibited at the Annapolis Region Community Arts Council in August.

Lynn Rotin – March Artist Profile

Lynn Rotin started her career as a photographer for choreographers and independent theater in Toronto. After moving to Halifax in 1989 she decided to enroll at NSCAD has been a practising artist since. She has received grants from the Canada Council, and her work is collected by the Nova Scotia Art Bank. Her drawings and paintings on paper use mixed media, building on layers of mark making.

Suzanne Gauthier – October Artist Profile

Suzanne Gauthier was born in Lorette Manitoba and studied and taught at the University of Manitoba (BFA Honours 1969). In 1989 she relocated to Halifax to teach full time at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. Her work is based in drawing, printmaking and collage, and has recently been engaged in photographs of moving water.
