Sarah Saunders is visiting Nova Scotia for her exhibition Between Presence and Absence at ARTsPLACE Artist-run Centre in Annapolis Royal, on view until October 19, 2014.

Saunders’ work explores personal and domestic artifacts. Intrigued by remnants of lives and indications of time passage, much of her work involves intimacy of subject and scale, and invites reflection on themes of vulnerability, endurance, and memory. Her artistic investigation aims to highlight issues of presence, absence, and the ephemerality of our personal history and memories. Sarah Saunders received BA in Design from NSCAD University. Prior to this Sarah studied dance, gained a B.Sc. in biology from Acadia and studied sculpture and drawing at the American Centre in Paris. She is the chairperson of Culture PEI and sits on the Acquisitions Committee of the Confederation Centre Art Gallery & Museum.

Visual Arts Nova Scotia is partnering with art galleries across the province to facilitate an exchange of national and international artists. The En Route Artist Talk Series aims to enhance existing programming and broaden contemporary art conversations.

We acknowledge the support of the Canada Council for the Arts, which last year invested $157 million to bring the arts to Canadians throughout the country. Nous remercions le Conseil des arts du Canada de son soutien. L’an dernier, le Conseil  a investi 157 millions de dollars pour mettre de l’art dans la vie des Canadiennes et des Canadiens de tout le pays.
