Right Place Right Time
Kathy Cameron
June 4 – 28, 2012

Kathy Cameron’s photographs encompass the Corridor Gallery at Visual Arts Nova Scotia from June 4 – 28, 2012.  Cameron describes her process in regards to this new exhibition:

When I take a photograph I focus on the center of the scene and build my perspective from that point. I want people to look at my photographs and feel like they are drawn into them. Photography to me is not only capturing an image, but also an expression of feelings.

Most of my photographs are a point in time and the images are not manipulated beyond routine photo editing. I often explain my work as being in the right place at the right time. The photographs that I have chosen for this exhibit, Right Place  Right Time, reflect images I captured while traveling throughout Canada and the US.

Kathy Cameron is a self taught photographer and digital artist based in Sydney, Nova Scotia originally from the United States. She has been exhibiting her photographs for over ten years throughout Nova Scotia. Her photographs and articles have been published in the Inverness Oran and American publications in association with the travelling exhibition of Hands Dancing, which she assisted in producing in 2006-07. Recently, Cameron has exhibited her work at the Cape Breton University Art Galley and the Whitney Pier Pierscape festival for the arts.

Located inside the Visual Arts Nova Scotia (VANS) office at the Halifax Seaport, since 2000, the Corridor Gallery is complimented by a historical legacy of Nova Scotia culture, simple yet modern architectural elements and an array of current cultural activity in the Cultural Federations of Nova Scotia office. The Corridor Gallery is located at 1113 Marginal Road, Halifax, Nova Scotia and is open Monday through Friday, 9am-5pm.
