Voting privileges at our Annual General Meeting.
VV (Virtual VANS) A biweekly electronic news bulletin providing the most current information on calls for submissions, jobs, grants, lectures, events, classified ads and workshops to members.
VANS Matters A monthly information bulletin issued electronically to enhance the organizations public profile. Issued to a public audience, members who are currently participating in VANS programs and services are promoted and supported.
Visual Arts News: A subscription to the oldest continuous visual art publication in Atlantic Canada. Now a nationally distributed professional magazine published 3 times/year; with reviews features, profiles, articles, news, interviews, exhibition listings, primarily focusing on artists and visual art issues in Nova Scotia, as well as a selection of reviews and listings from the region that are of interest to our readers.
E-studio Artist Directory Web space for artists searchable by name, media, & region of NS. Individual pages include up to 6 images, artist statement & biography, linked email, website link and contact information (available to members at a $10/year fee). VANS issues log in information to e-studio artists, so that they may update their information from home at any time.
Programs As a VANS member you support, and become eligible to apply to current programming such as Exhibitions, the Mentorship Program, PAINTS (Professional Artists in the Schools) and are eligible to participate in our Monthly Artist Profiles.
Artist Information Line Answers to your questions concerning art-related issues. Knowledgeable staff will answer your questions or find the answer. Call or email.
Resource Lending Library A variety of visual art & craft magazines, videos, books and reference material on copyright, contracts, residencies, tax law, etc. including access to information about artists’ rights, fee schedules and the Canadian copyright collective.
Online Resources: We provide a comprehensive resource with a focus on the business and career aspects of being an artist. Resource areas include: legal, insurance, marketing, professional development, grants and funding.
Workshops Discounts on professional development workshops related to your career as an artist.
Advocacy A voice to represent your concerns as an artist to government, business and the public.
Gallery or Group members can offer their members a 10% discount off their VANS membership. Gallery and Group members also have a direct link to their website in our exhibition listings, and a listing about the organization on our website: See the list of current Gallery and Group members. Gallery and Group members are also eligible to apply to the Cultural Federations of Nova Scotia Health Plan for their full time employees.
