Arts Administration Internship Opportunity

Position: This internship is perfect for those looking to develop practical skills and experience in arts administration. The core responsibility of this position will be to coordinate and promote the Fall 2014 Professional Development Workshop Series for Artists with the assistance and guidance of the VANS Programming Coordinator. The workshop series is offered across Nova Scotia, and focuses on practical skills for artists to support their creative endeavors such as grant writing and pricing.

The intern will also have the opportunity to coordinate a month long exhibition in the corridor gallery from November to December 2014.

Qualifications: Interest in the administrative support of artist’s practices with a keen interest to learn practical skills. Some experience coordinating and promoting events considered an asset.

Outcomes: Interns will gain administrative experience in a professional, non-profit membership supported arts organization. Students will learn skills in seeking professional opportunities for artists and disseminating resources to members, in addition to hands on learning of appropriate coordination and promotion with individual artists and media outlets. The intern will also attend the professional development workshops, further supporting their professional development.

Visual Arts Nova Scotia advances the visual arts through leadership, education, and communication.

  • SUPPORT the activity of professional visual art practices
  • ADVOCATE for individual artists, the visual arts sector and the arts in general
