Call for Applications: VANS Mentorship Program 2013-14

greekVisual Arts Nova Scotia (VANS) releases the 8th annual call for applications for the VANS Mentorship Program.

The VANS Mentorship Program pairs established artists with emerging artists (not necessarily young artists, but those in the early stages of their artistic career) to take part in a ten-month mentorship from September to June. Mentors and apprentices meet together monthly, and participate three times as a group. Mentors may be asked for to support apprentices in areas such as: proposal development, grant writing, writing artist statements, technical advice, critiques, thematic development, networking, budgeting etc.

Over the last 7 years, the VANS Mentorship program has tailored to meet individual artistic concerns, concepts and working methods for emerging artists such as: Anne MacMillan, Barbara Schmeisser, William Robinson, Judy Arsenault, and more. These ambitious emerging artists have worked with experienced mentors, each guiding the program with their particular skills. Mentors participating in the program have included: Steve Higgins, Peter Dykhuis, Susan Wood, Ilan Sandler, and Cathy Busby, among others. The benefits and impact of the program rely on participants’ openness, enthusiasm, and dedication to their artistic practice.
