artist statement
My joy for photography stems from an early need to ‘escape’ while, at the same time, allow me to better appreciate the everyday things in life I had either not noticed before or had taken for granted. This hobby quickly turned into an ‘addictive’ exploration and photographic documentation of the splendors my community and the province of Nova Scotia has to offer.
With my camera in hand I often find myself just heading out the door excited about taking that ‘dream’ photograph. I work towards this by exploring the colours and textures of a subject aiming to capture an image possessing both the qualities of abstract and commonplace.
It is with this sense of curiosity and fulfillment of capturing the unique and splendid character of Nova Scotia that I continue in search of those special moments to capture in a photograph.
