artist statement
My surroundings on the beautiful shore ofSouthwest Nova Scotia keep me constantly inspired. I find watercolour the perfect medium for capturing the atmosphere and light of my local environment. The immediacy and unpredictability of the paint allows me to repond to both what lies before me and what is happening on the paper. I tend to focus on scenes of nature, be it our ever-changing coastline or flowers that I have grown in my garden. I attempt to show these things as I see them; striving to keep my paintings fresh and spontaneous with luminous colour.
