Jane McBurney Racine

Artist Statement

After working in watercolour for many years, I wanted to return to simpler methods and drawing provides that. With the use of charcoal, conté, eraser and a variety of pencils, I am able to convey what for me is a stronger emotional impression than what colour alone may offer. A different degree of layering and removal and layering again becomes possible. Mixing media in this way deepens the artistic expression and experience for me.
