artist statement
It is not my subject matter that allows me to experience Art, but Art that allows me to experience my subject matter. It is the natural world with is myriad and mesmerizing colours, details, patterning and structure with which I long to experience more fully. I want to be a part if its perfection even if it’s in the most inadequate ways. The process in which I interpret and re-interpret the lay of a downy feather or the colours found on a single whisker allows me to understand and appreciate the intricacies of its beauty, in the sincerest form I know.
selected biography
Dianne Redden grew up in Toronto, but moved to rural Nova Scotia near Truro in 1990. These beautiful surroundings have been instrumental in nourishing her creative interest, unfluencing her drawing, painting, jewellery and exotic fibre work. Diane is currently accepting commissioned work for realistic pet portraits done in graphtie, charcoal and watercolour.
