Dan Earle

Artist Statement

I create in watercolour, pencil, etching, and other media. I studied landscape architecture at Michigan State and Harvard universities, and taught in the College of Design at Louisiana State University for 37 years.  Much of my past artistic work was directed to illustration of landscape design projects.

Since retirement from teaching, and relocating in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, I have focused on more free and creative expression.  My favoured subjects are buildings and landscapes, boats and fishing ports, structured still life, and  common objects found around the house or studio.  I enjoy  playing and experimenting with various media.

My artistic work is enhanced by my interests in sea kayaking, canoeing, and gardening, activities that bring me into contact with appropriate subject matter from our region.

I am a member of the Yarmouth Waterfront Gallery, a seasonal co-op at 89 Water Street. Please visit us May through October.
