artist statement

I have always been fascinated by the human figure – its twists and turns, shapes and lines. These drawings began as an exploration of line, space and texture. Using large paper allowed me to loosen up and involve my whole body to create the image of another.

selected biography

Barbara attended the Rhode Island School of Design and graduated from Pratt Institute, NY in 1970. After several years as a commercial artist in New York City she moved to Canada, where she and her first husband made and sold stained glass windows, some of which can still be seen at restaurants in Montreal.

After 25 years in education, Barbara moved to Grand Pre, Nova Scotia and has been painting and drawing ever since.
