Artists Making and Doing, by Making-Do: A Visual Arts Nova Scotia Regional Exhibit - The rugged spirit of Nova Scotias’ resourcefulness is showcased in a group exhibit featuring 23 Eastern Shore artists, all of which are members of Visual Arts Nova Scotia. Subtitled “recycle, repurpose, reuse, revisit, reinvent, recreate”, the show runs from June 11th to July 3rd at the Memory Lane Heritage Village in Lake Charlotte.

x2: 2010-11 VANS Mentorship Program exhibition opened to the public on Friday, August 26th and was on view at Eyelevel Gallery August 25 - September 3, 2011. The exhibition paired the talents of emerging artists Ruth Marsh, Kyle Cunjak and Matthew Carswell, with work from their individual mentors Melinda Spooner, Adrian Fish and Cathy Busby. Viewers reveled in inventive sculptural work, found documentation, large-scale drawings, photographic work and text based installations.

Visual Arts Nova Scotia (VANS), in conjunction with Annapolis Region Community Arts Council (ARCAC), is pleased to announce an exhibition mounted by the artist members of the Annapolis West Region, from Middleton to Bear River on view April 8 - May 5, 2012 at ARTsPLACE Gallery in Annapolis Royal, NS. The artists were challenged to create work outside of their “comfort zone” by working with media or in genres outside their norm, or to address issues and topics that they – or viewers – might find uncomfortable.

This year the program's apprentices William Robinson, Anne Macmillan, Natalie Boterman, along with mentors Bob Bean, Peter Dykhuis and Ariella Pahlke participated in a weekend long retreat intensive at the Ross Creek Centre for the Arts. Special thanks to the generous support of Nova Scotia Tourism Culture and Heritage, RBC Emerging Artist Foundation and the Craig Foundation.

tête-à-tête: 2011-12 VANS Mentorship Program Exhibition at the Port Loggia gallery showed August 1 - 19, 2012. Pairing the talents of emerging artists Anne Macmillan, William Robinson, and Natalie Boterman, with work from their individual mentors Peter Dykhuis, Robert Bean and Ariella Pahlke, the 2011-12 program exhibition showcased engaging new works from these interdisciplinary artists. Apprentices from this program created works inspired by histories, places, and the archiving of the mundane. Special thanks to the generous support of Nova Scotia Communities, Culture, and Heritage, the RBC Emerging Artist Foundation and Jack and Joan Craig.
